Rose Petal Spritz
The scent of roses is emblematic of summer. Wild roses bloom along roadsides, hiking trails, on hills, and through fields on Whidbey Island. The scent of wild roses wafts into your car window as you are driving down country roads. You can smell them, mixed with the salty sea air, while hiking along the beaches and bluffs of the Island. A Rose Petal Spritz, made with Rose Simple Syrup ( https://northwestfrench.com/rose-simple-syrup/) is the perfect drink for a hot summer day, or any day for that matter. You will be reminded of the warm beaches and rose-lined hiking trails with every sip.

This lovely drink came about after I made a batch of Rose Simple Syrup. I had quite the adventure of hiking numerous trails and beaches, as well as driving many country roads on Whidbey Island searching for wild rose bushes. Many prickles and close encounters with bees later, I had enough petals to make a batch of syrup. It ends up it is just as tasty as it is pretty and fragrant, and is the perfect addition to club soda to make a refreshing Rose Petal Spritz.
